SWIMMING POOLS

HOW MANY TYPES OF SWIMMING POOLS ARE THERE?

There are 3 types of swimming pools. It's Skimmer, Overflow and Vanishing Edge.

The Skimmer type gets its name from the rectangular windows on the top of the pool wall called Skimmers. These are outlets from the pool and they serve to clean the surface water. The debris that floats on the surface of the water like leaves, grass etc., enters the skimmer and drops in its basket. Therefore the frequent cleaning of the skimmer basket is important. The flap of the skimmer prevents the return of the debris back from the skimmer by blocking the water flow.

Overflow and Vanishing Edge pools have a similar operation. The water overflows into the overflow channel which then empties into the Balancing Tank. The purpose of the BT is to keep enough water to allow for the overflow of the pool and to enough storage space for the excess water when swimmers enter the pool. The Overflow and VE pools have a surface water cleaning since the debris overflows and drops into the BT.
